Hiking Boots

Hiking boots typically have lace up designs and come with comfortable round toes and large soles. The good ones are also resistant to water; have reinforced toe boxes; steel shanks; and are sturdy enough to support the weight of a backpack. You should not feel rocks through the soles of a good hiking boot. They are sometimes called trekking boots, mountain boots, and backpacking boots. You may want to have a pair of both light trail boots as well as heavy hiking boots.
