Fly Fishing is one of the most popular outdoor activities around. People of all ages begin FlyFishing each year.
Clothing and fishing equipment can cost alot, especially if you get into fly tying and fly-in fishing vacations! As long as you have some the basics such as: a fly rod that is appropriate for the location you are going to be fishing; Enough tackle to make at least 2 different fly rigs; and some earth tone or even camouflage fly fishing clothing, waders, fishing boots, and a fly-fishing vest, you will be able to fish most places in the world.

tip- when fishing a new location, tap into the local guides for how to fish and appropriate fly-fishing tackle. we recommend using a guide service on your first day of the trip and use what you learn for the remainder of your trip

However, buying clothing and equipment - even the basics - can be very expensive. Most Fly Fishing equipment will last a very long time. Therefore, buying used fishing equipment via online auctions or a local yard sale is a great way to get some quality fishing equipment for less money than buying it at your local fly shop and much less money than you will buying your fishing tackle(flies, leaders, tippets etc.) at the fly shop on your way out to a guided  fishing trip.

   tip
-
buy as much of your tackle prior to your trip either through the internet, or at your local fly shop.  Take a little of the money you save and use it at the flyshop near your fishing vacation destination to buy flies that the bonefish, trout, or bass are biting.

Fly Fishing collectibles are more popular as ever as well. Gather up your vintage fishing equipment and you might be able to pay for your next fishing vacation!
Take a look at some of the great Fly Fishing gear available on auction and at leading retailers.
